The zen of conducting

I made up the title, but it is because I believe the same level of peace as the guy in the end of the video can be achieved by any great master, be he a conductor, basketball player, writer, musician or martial artist.

20 minutes of your time where you will get progressively more and more inspired, along with entertained. Great speaker, great message.

Baba Brinkman's rap guide to evolution

Baba Brinkman packs in a whole evolutionary biology course in a music album. The lyrics have been checked by one scientist, making it the first peer reviewed music album!

Naturally, the album was reviewed in the academic literature.

You can download the album for free here.

(search for 'the rap guide to evolution' on the page).

The rap guide to human nature is a newer album by Baba Brinkman. I like the way it is being sold, you pay whatever you think is fare.

Mailinator

Tired of sites, to which you will never navigate again, asking for your email just to provide you a piece of information? A lot of the spam email you receive daily probably has such an origin.

Mailinator to the rescue!

Just pick a random unique name, like 'zavarakatranemia', add '@mailinator.com' and use it as an email address! You can check the inbox with that name from the mailinator site!

Obviously, you do not want to email sensitive information there, because anyone who can think of the same random unique name has access.

It is a genius idea! I love using mailinator to obtain restaurant coupons. It is even funnier when the generated coupon includes the email address next to my name...

Beatbox dog

You can bet there are remix versions and that you can waste a lot of time on this!

The Earth's orbit

Very concise and fascinating summary of all (?) of Earth's movements.

This is why astrology cannot work: the position of the stars on the sky keeps changing, and is certainly different since the time astrology got started. Astrological predictions have not changed to accommodate the current position of the constellations...

More interestingly, some of the variation in the Earth's orbit explains the ice ages.

It is humbling that all of human civilisation relies on appropriate intervals in Earth's ever-changing orbit around the sun. And makes me feel very lucky, not only to be alive at a time where it is possible, but also at a time where we can understand why it is possible.

Understanding why starts with this 10 min clip.
