Salmon canape

A very easy starter, that will impress your friends.

Salmon canape


  • Smoked salmon (Scottish if possible)
  • Thin sliced bread
  • Butter
  • Fresh ground pepper
  • Cornichons
  • Dill


This is an amazingly easy starter, but needs to be served fresh so only works for small numbers of people.

Cut the bread in thin slices and toast it, so it is crunchy and thin enough not to overpower the rest of the food.

Once the bread is toasted and still warm, add a bit of butter.

Add a slice of salmon.

Top it up with pepper and dill.

Add the cornichons (pickled cucumber), sliced along their length so they don't roll off.

Congratulations. Serve quickly.
